Immortals Robotics

Immortals is an advanced robotics team organized by the students of the best universities of Iran and a long-term participant at the World Wide RoboCup tournaments. Our laboratory is located in the college of engineering in University of Tehran.

The first time I met this team was in a competition called IranOpen, actually it was the first time I saw a robotics soccer playing team from close. It was wonderful! My father was with me at that time, he told me that the members of this team were graduated from the same school of mine (Nikan School). I remember that I got really uncomfortable with the fact that I’m not part of a robotics team and have no good knowledge about robotics (like programming).

That uncomfortable feeling got ended soon when I entered in high school and participated in a voluntary robotics class and guess who was our teacher? Yup, the members of the Immortals team.

From that year on, I got involved in all kinds of projects, in most of them I was in charge for the software and electronic designs, the mechanical designs were done by one of my best friends, Mohammad Ali Ghasemie. Each of these projects made me learn a lot of things in the field of engineering and team work.

At my high school I tried my best and gathered a team of students to participate in a robotics competition. We were able to build a junior soccer playing robot but at that time we were getting close to the Iranian University Entrance Exam (Konkour)and we all switched to studying for it.

After a few months of my graduation from high school I started to reorganize our team to participate in a more advanced competition just like Immortals. I remember that I spoke with a professor in my university about starting a robotics team, he told me not to get involved in these competitions for the first years of my university study and most students who start with these things put there future life at risk. The next day I got a call from Mohammad Ali telling me that Immortals wants us to come over to the IranOpen competitions and give them a hand…

and I said YES.
